You can update your profile image/avatar, name, email address and basic preferences on desktop. Updates you make to your account information affect all of your Notion workspaces ⚙️

Change your profile image

  • ClickSettings & members at the top of the left sidebar. SelectMy accountat the top left of that window.

  • UnderPhoto, selectUpload photo. Choose the photo you want and clickOpen.

  • ClickUpdateto save your changes.

Change your email address

  • ClickSettings & membersat the top of the left sidebar. SelectMy accountin the sidebar of the new window.

  • WithinPersonal infoand Email, clickChange email.

  • If you have a permanent password set, enter that.

  • Enter your new email address and clickSend verification code.

  • You'll receive an email with a verification code at the new address.

  • Copy the verification code sent to your new email address; paste it into Notion and click Change email.

Tip:If you use the same email address for your Notion account and your Google account, you'll be able to useContinue with Googleto log in to Notion.

If you use the same email address for your Notion account as your Apple ID, you'll be able to useContinue with Appleto log in to Notion.

Change your name

  • ClickSettings & membersat the top of the left sidebar. SelectMy account in the sidebar of the new window.

  • WithinPersonal info, enter yourPreferred name.

  • ClickUpdateat the bottom to save the change.

Change your timezone

  • ClickSettings & membersat the top of the left sidebar. SelectMy settings in the sidebar of the new window.

  • Under Date & Time, change your timezone.

There's a few different options for signing into your Notion account. You can use a permanent password, or remove your password to use a temporary passcode sent to your inbox for each login. There'sContinue with GoogleandContinue With Appleas well.

Regardless of how you log into Notion, we'll keep you logged in for 90 days per device before you're asked to login again.

Note:Never share your password with anyone, even Notion support! If someone's claiming to be Notion support and asking for your password, it's not us.

All passwords are encrypted on our servers, so we don't have access to any password data.

Set a permanent password

  • ClickSettings & membersat the top of the left sidebar, and thenMy account.

    • If you're on mobile, tapNotifications & settingsin your sidebar.

  • Click theSet a passwordbutton.

  • Enter a password that meets the security requirements, and repeat to confirm.

Change password

  • You can change an existing password by clicking theChange passwordbutton:

Remove password

  • If you'd rather not associate a password with your account, you can remove it.

  • If you don't have a permanent password associated with your account, we'll send a temporary passcode to your inbox for each login.

  • To do this, clickRemove password.

Note: The temporary passcodes sent to your email inbox expire after 30 minutes.

Reset password

  • If you forgot your password, navigate tonotion.so/login in your web browser.

  • Enter the email address associated with your Notion account.

  • Click theContinue with emailbutton.

  • Click theForgot password?button, and then theSend reset link button.

  • We'll send a link to your email address. When you click that link, you'll be taken toSettings & membersin your Notion workspace, where you'll have the option to set a new password.

    • If you do not set a new password at this point, your password will simply be removed. You'll return to logging in via temporary password for each session.

Continue with Google

You can useContinue with Googlefor a faster login as long as your Notion account email is the same as your Google email.

For example, if your Google email isadalovelace@gmail.com, you can useContinue with Googleto login as long as that's the email you see in theMy accountsection ofSettings & membersin Notion.

  • When you chooseContinue with Googleto login, you'll be asked for your Google password in a pop-up window, not your Notion password.

  • If you have 2-Step Verification enabled for your Google account, you'll need to authenticate with a second device.

Continue with Apple

You can useContinue with Applefor a faster login as long as your Notion account email is the same as your Apple ID.

For example, if your Apple ID isadalovelace@icloud.com, you can useContinue with Appleto login as long as that's the email you see in theMy accountsection ofSettings & membersin Notion.

When you useContinue with Applefor the first time, you'll see two options:

  • Share My Email: Choose this option if you want to linkContinue with Applewith an existing Notion account. If you're creating a new Notion account, we'll use the email associated with your Apple ID as your Notion account email.

  • Hide My Email: Choose this option if you want to hide your email from Notion. A brand new account will be created with a unique email such as dpdcnf87nu@privaterelay.appleid.com, which will only work with Notion.

    • You won't be able to linkContinue with Applewith an existing Notion account if you chooseHide My Email.

    • You'll still receive Notion emails forwarded to the email associated with your Apple ID.

  • To stop usingContinue with Applewith Notion, or to change yourShare My Email/Hide My Email preference, go to the Apple ID section of your device settings, thenPassword & Security.

  • When you chooseContinue with Apple to login, you'll be asked for your Apple ID password in a pop-up window, not your Notion password.

  • If you have two-factor authentication enabled for your Apple ID, you'll need to authenticate with a second device.

Tip:Continue with Appleallows you to use Face ID or Touch ID to log in to Notion!

Log out remotely

For account security purposes, you can remotely log out of active sessions. The current session will remain active - you'll have to log back in on all other devices and instances.

  • Click onSettings & membersin the sidebar, thenMy account.

  • Scroll down toLog out of all devicesand clickLog out.

FAQs

How can I link my existing Notion account with Continue with Apple?

You can useContinue with Applefor a faster login as long as your Notion account email is the same as your Apple ID.

For example, if your Apple ID isadalovelace@icloud.com, you can useContinue with Appleto login as long as that's the email you see in theMy accountsection ofSettings & Membersin Notion.

When you useContinue with Applefor the first time, you'll see two options:Share My EmailandHide My Email. SelectShare My Email, and you should be logged into your Notion account.

If you selectedHide My Email, you'll need to unlinkContinue with Applefrom your Notion account and start over. To do that, go to the Apple ID section of your device settings, thenPassword & Security.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

  • If you forgot your password, navigate to notion.so/login in your web browser.

  • Click theContinue with emailbutton.

  • Enter the email address associated with your Notion account.

  • Click theForgot password?button, and then theSend Reset Link button.

  • We'll send a link to your email address. When you click that link, you'll be taken toSettings & Membersin your Notion workspace, where you'll have the option to set a new password.

  • If you do not set a new password at this point, you'll return to logging in via temporary password for each new login.

I just got an email saying I changed my email address or password, but I didn't!

If you receive an unexpected email notifying you of a change to your password, you should reset your password as soon as possible. Follow these steps:

  • Navigate to notion.so/loginin your web browser.

  • Click theContinue with emailbutton.

  • Enter the email address associated with your Notion account.

  • Click theForgot password?button, and then theSend Reset Link button.

  • We'll send a link to your email address. When you click that link, you'll be taken toSettings & Membersin your Notion workspace, and your password will be reset.

  • Please report any suspicious activity like this to our support team,team@makenotion.com.

I tried changing my email address but got an error message saying: "A user with this email already exists."

If you'd like to change your account email to one that already exists within Notion, you can log into the account that holds the email you want and delete that account to free up that email address.

To delete the account, go toSettings & Membersin the left sidebar, thenMy Account, thenDelete My Account.

Then log into your current account, and go toSettings & Members, thenMy Account, and selectChange email. You should be able to switch to the freed up email address.

What if I accidentally deleted something permanently? Any way to get it back?

If you accidentally delete a page, a workspace, or even your entire account, we can help! Accidents happen 😅 Just send us a message in the app by clicking ? at the bottom left on desktop (or in your sidebar on mobile). Or email us at team@makenotion.com.

We keep backups of our database, which allows us to restore a snapshot of your content in the past 30 days if you need it.
